The Museum has a number of local historical and genealogical records in its collection. These records are available for viewing and research at the museum.
Many of the volumes of printed material in the museum collection are being indexed to provide a means to quickly locate information about important individuals and events. Visit often as this section expands.
The Society has a large collection of local historical photos. A new photo is added every week. Browse our growing album on-line.
On page 16 of the album, we posted a picture of "Miss Ruth" and asked you to
respond if you had additional information about her. Many of you did! Click here to see the photo, and to read what we learned from
you!
The Society has a large number of photos of people and places that have not been identified. Your help is needed to
identify the places and put names with the faces. If you can provide information on any of these photos, please contact us.
We will be digitizing more of these photos over time, so check back often for new album pages.

These pictures are from glass negatives that were loaned to the Society to copy for the
Museum collections. They were loaned by Roger Young, whose grandfather, Mr. Bruce VanHorn, grew
up at Point Lookout. Around 1905, as his grandfather was going through college, he needed
money. His solution was to purchase a camera and take pictures at the Point and
surrounding areas. We have added captions to a few of the pictures that we had information
on and a few are overexposed, but are included also as they are still interesting.
